Lister Hospital NHS Trust currently has a food hygiene rating of 3. This was awarded on Monday 16th June 2025 by Stevenage Borough Council.

The Trust takes food safety for patients and customers extremely seriously and is committed to maintaining high standards.
Two key issues were raised during the inspection which affected the food hygiene rating:
The temperature of two fridges in the restaurant was found to be inadequate. Although these fridges were known to be faulty and were not intended for use, a staff member had mistakenly placed toasties in one of them on the day of inspection.
The temperature of the hot cabinet in Costa was found to be below 63°C during a busy lunchtime period. Although temperature records prior to the inspection showed satisfactory readings, the unit was below the required holding temperature at the time of inspection, and time-based controls could not be demonstrated.
Prompt and robust action was taken to address these matters and prevent a recurrence.
